<p>As you are all probably aware, I take great pride in keeping fit, eating well and generally looking after my body as best I can and so does my partner. But when I saw that he was looking more and more drained at the end of a long day at the desk, I could tell it was more than the demands of fulfilling a new contract that was getting to him.</p>
<p>	He&#39;s not usually one to complain (unusual for a man I know) but he told me that he could hardly move his upper back and neck because of the tension and lack of exercise. His muscles had become locked and I could see the roundness in his shoulders. Sure, a bit of extra exercise or a physiotherapy session would loosen those muscles a bit, but he had no choice during working hours but to keep plugging away at his desk.</p>

<p>Measuring your body fat percentage is a  			valuable tool to chart your progress on your quest to get six pack  			abs. Hopefully most people realize by now that abdominal exercises  			don’t burn fat off your stomach. Abs are made in the kitchen, not  			just in the gym. No matter how much you work out, if you don’t eat  			right and achieve a calorie deficit, your abs will remain covered in  			a layer of adipose.</p>
<p>When the realization hits you that you must reduce  			your body fat percentage to see your abs, one of the biggest  			questions that pops into your mind is, “how low do I have to get my  			body fat percentage to see my abs?”  			It’s a tough question and the answer may be different for men  			than women.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s what I&#8217;d recommend:</p>
<p>First, get familiar with some benchmarks for  			body fat levels.</p>
<p>My <strong> <a href="http://clutterb.burnthefat.hop.clickbank.net">Burn The  			Fat System</a></strong> has a body fat rating scale, which  			includes averages and my suggested optimal body fat percentages.  			This is my own chart, which I created with a combination of research  			literature and my own personal experience.</p>
<p>Burn The Fat Body fat rating scale:</p>
<p>WOMEN:</p>
<p>Competition Shape (&#8220;ripped&#8221;): 8-12%<br />
Very Lean (excellent): &lt; 15%<br />
Lean (good): 16-20%<br />
Satisfactory (fair): 21-25%<br />
Improvement needed (poor): 26-30%<br />
Major improvement needed (Very poor): 31-40%+</p>
<p>MEN:</p>
<p>Competition Shape (&#8220;ripped&#8221;): 3-6%<br />
Very Lean (excellent): &lt; 9%<br />
Lean (good): 10-14%<br />
Satisfactory (fair): 15-19%<br />
Improvement needed (poor): 20-25%<br />
Major improvement needed (Very poor): 26-30%+</p>
<p>Just a quick note: You&#8217;re not destined to get  			fatter as you get older, but in the general population (not fitness  			and bodybuilding folks), the average older person has more body fat.</p>
<p>What I did to accommodate this was to include a  			body fat range instead of one number, so younger people can use the  			low end of the range and older people can use the higher number.</p>
<p>Also, just so the average reader can keep  			things in perspective, single digit body fat for women and low  			single digits for men is far beyond lean &#8211; it&#8217;s RIPPED &#8211; and that&#8217;s  			usually solely the domain of competitive physique athletes.</p>
<p>Competition body fat levels were not meant to  			be maintained all year round. It&#8217;s not realistic and it may not be  			healthy, particularly for women.</p>
<p>For most women, 12% body fat or thereabouts is  			ripped, and for many, that&#8217;s contest ready (figure or fitness  			competition).</p>
<p>Just for comparison, I&#8217;ve done over 7,000 body  			fat tests during my career, and the lowest I have ever measured on a  			female was 8.9% (4-site skinfold method). She was a national-level  			figure competitor and she was shredded &#8211; full six pack of abs&#8230;  			&#8220;onion skin!&#8221;</p>
<p>However, I do know some women who get down to  			11-13% body fat &#8211; by all standards extremely lean, complete with six  			pack abs &#8211; but oddly, they still had a few stubborn fat spots &#8211;  			usually the hips and lower body.</p>
<p>What about guys? Well, I know a guy who looks  			absolutely chiseled in his abs at 11% body fat, but other guys don&#8217;t  			look really cut in the abs until they get down to 6-8% body fat.  			Bodybuilders usually aren’t ready for competition until they get  			below 6%.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s the trouble with trying to pin down one  			specific body fat number as THE body fat level for seeing 6-pack abs  			(or being ripped and contest-ready): Everyone distributes their body  			fat differently and two people may look different at the same  			percentage.</p>
<p>The average guy or gal should probably aim for  			the &#8220;lean&#8221; category as a realistic year round goal, or if you&#8217;re  			really ambitious and dedicated, the &#8220;very lean category.&#8221;</p>
<p>You&#8217;ll probably have to hit the &#8220;very lean&#8221;  			category for six pack abs. However, the bottom line is that there&#8217;s  			no &#8220;perfect&#8221; body fat percentage where you&#8217;re assured of seeing your  			abs.</p>
<p>Besides, body fat is one of those numbers that  			gets fudged and exaggerated all the time. I hear reports of women  			with body fat between 4% and 8% and I usually dismiss it as error in  			measurement (or there&#8217;s some &#8220;assistance&#8221; involved).</p>
<p>Body fat testing, especially with skinfolds, is  			not an exact science. All body fat tests are estimations and there  			is always room for human error.</p>
<p>The low numbers are nice for bragging rights,  			but the judges don&#8217;t measure your body fat on stage. What counts is  			how you look and whether you&#8217;re happy with that (or whether the  			judges are happy with it, if you&#8217;re competing).</p>
<p>You can use my chart to help you set some  			initial goals, but for the most part, I recommend using body fat  			testing as a way of charting your progress over time to see if  			you&#8217;re improving rather than pursuing some holy grail number.</p>

But few people realize that you can literally <a href="http://clutterb.hotmet.hop.clickbank.net/">manipulate your metabolism</a> for better weight loss results. You can think of your metabolism as your body&#8217;s engine, and your metabolic rate is the rate at which your body processes the fuel for that engine (in other words, burns calories).</p>
<p>It is a common, but misguided, practice to try to lose weight by eating fewer and fewer calories, to the point of hunger. Along with this restricted diet they add in a recreational type of activity, such as walking, or cycling, or something similar in the hope of losing excess body fat.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, the combination of a restrictive diet and an incomplete exercise program leads to a process that is the exact opposite to what a person is trying to achieve. It actually causes muscle tissue loss, and this sends the body into survival mode, lowering the metabolic rate, thus putting the brakes on fat loss. Most people become discouraged, and simply never understand that the important element that they are missing is a muscle-building exercise.</p>
<p>Any back slide in body composition (muscle/fat ratio) due to a lack of intense exercise is compounded by the natural aging processes of our bodies. At around 25 to 30 years of age the body naturally begins to shed muscle tissue unless you work to keep it. This means that even if you maintain a consistent body weight over a twenty year period, say from age 30 to age 50, you will have significantly less muscle mass.</p>
<p>As you lose muscle mass, you lose all of the calorie burning and metabolic benefits of that highly active tissue. This combination leads to a &#8220;slower metabolism.&#8221; which has become a favorite excuse for many people&#8217;s weight gain. &#8220;I am gaining weight, but it&#8217;s not my fault my metabolism has slowed down.&#8221;</p>
<p>This is exactly the opposite of the truth; people are not getting fatter because their metabolisms are slowing down. What is actually happening is that their metabolisms are slowing down because they are getting fatter. For every pound of muscle tissue lost, you lose a little piece of your metabolic power.</p>
<p>If what you want is to lose body fat, you simply need to take the right approach to the problem. In particular, what you need to embark upon is a proper exercise program that contains at least 60 percent strength training exercise. This will keep the metabolism at its highest level during the fat loss process.</p>
<p>The balance of the exercise program should be made up of interval training, which is comprised of short bursts of activity, alternated with rest periods. An example of this would be 8-10 seconds of sprinting then a minute or so of walking, repeated up to 12 times.</p>
<p>Next on the list is a properly balanced nutrition plan that supports the exercise program so enough energy is available to the body to work out at a proper level of intensity (degree of difficulty) to get results. This plan should include 5 or 6 small meals spread throughout the day, no more than 3 hours apart to keep the metabolism humming.</p>
<p>Each meal should contain a protein source. Choose that first and then add a variety of vegetables to the meal. For the best results you need to focus on what you should be eating rather than on what you shouldn&#8217;t be eating.</p>
<p>Somehow you will need to get your head around the fact that this solution is an ongoing one. There is no endpoint that you are aiming for here. Your body composition will change (unfavorably) to a higher level of body fat to muscle ratio unless you work to keep yourself in good shape. But considering the benefits, this price is really a small one to pay in order that you can look so much better, feel so much better, and also be so much healthier. Seen this way, your decision to embark upon this lifestyle change should be an easy one.</p>

<p>If you ever needed another good reason to exercise, I&#8217;ve got one for you:</p>
<p>Exercise makes your brain bigger.</p>
<p>Actually this isn&#8217;t entirely accurate. To be more specific, exercise was found to increase brain size slightly, but far more important to increase &#8220;spatial reasoning.&#8221;</p>
<p>This is the ability to recognize patterns, remember phrases, numbers, and so-on. This was discovered by researchers at the Universities of Chicago and Pittsburgh.</p>
<p>It is also one of the most important factors to the prevention of Alzheimer&#8217;s and dementia.</p>
<p>My mom suffered with dementia the last ten years of her life. But unlike most dementia patients she was fully functional thanks to exercise. She drove and had a mind that was unbelievably sharp right up until an accident injured her beyond the ability to exercise.</p>
<p>After that, she mentally went downhill rapidly. Thankfully, she passed in peace&#8230; and she had ten wonderfully active years thanks to her willingness to take up weight training at the age of 71.</p>
<p>She eventually walked up to 3 miles per day and trained in the gym 3 days per week.</p>
<p>That kept her mind sharp, along with fish oil and N-Acetyl L-Carnitine, a wonderful brain nutrient.</p>
<p>Once again, we see the power of exercise. It increases the QUALITY of your life.</p>
<p>Quantity is no where near as important to me as quality.</p>

If you take some time, you could find everything you desire be it a mental or physical exaltation or even a spiritual quest of understanding and self realization. Not only would there be a reason to smile but what better way of improving on the health and happiness of everyone around you.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">Firstly, there is no point in looking back over life and musing on the memories and regrets. What is done is done and nothing can bring that time back. Now is what matters the most and thinking about age or considering the end can never be production. Denial of any sort always brings out the worst. Below are a few points which can be taken into consideration to improve on and bring a glorious change to your lifestyle.</span></p>
<h2><span style="color: #000000;">Health</span></h2>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">This should be the time where you consult a physician and find out where you can improve on in terms of your health. Shrugging it away and leaving it for tomorrow or the next Saturday would get you nowhere. Now is the time where you can make a significant change to your health and make the call. Talk to the specialist freely, get a full check up and know the areas where you can work on. Consult him about a healthy and balance diet and follow it with as much resilience as you can muster.</span></p>
<h2><span style="color: #000000;">Life</span></h2>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">If you have habits which involve smoking, drinking or even drinking coffee; this is the moment where you can cut back. Quitting might be difficult and you might find yourself grumpy and irritable, but try and cut back slowly. You might say that you are not addicted but cutting back on these stimulants is the first way of taking the reigns of your life back into your hands. Make resolutions and try keeping them. Apart from that, find ways to occupy yourself. Reading is a good way as books are the windows to pure knowledge and wisdom. It gives a great insight to the depth within you while you understand the learning of giants and sages. If you like, become a connoisseur of tea, wine or art and culture.</span></p>
<h2><span style="color: #000000;">Adventure</span></h2>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">If you can, explore the world around you. It does not need to be far off exotic lands, though if you are financially able, you might consider a few destinations rich in thought and culture. However at the very least, a walk in the park a few miles from home for an hour or two would do. Art galleries, museums, libraries or even interactive clubs would make for a great adventure. Or join Yoga classes or learn ball-dancing, anything that grabs your fancy as not only would provide relaxation but it would do well for the health too. If you are religious; try and visit those pious harbors of devotion and notice the serenity it offers, be it a church, monastery or temple.</span></p>
